Sri City, February 7, 2017:- Dr. Subba Rao, Ghanta, Special Secretary to Government, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovations Department & Director, Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), and Dr. K. Lakshminarayana, IAS (Retired), Founder Director, APSSDC inspected the Technical Skill Development Institute (TSDI) being set up in Sri City, on Tuesday. Mr. R.C.M. Reddy, IAS, Managing Director, IL&FS-Education and Technical services was also present.
Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests.
The team of officials went round the institute and personally inspected the Computer Based Training Lab, CNC machining, Automobile Engineering bays for two-wheelers and four-wheelers, and Welding laboratories, which are being commissioned. They all expressed satisfaction at the status.
Addressing the gathering Dr. Subba Rao said,”With an aim to develop skilled manpower in tune with the demand of the industries, in a tie-up with Siemens, APSSDC is setting up the institute.” “We have selected Sri City to set up the institute as it has the right environment,” he added.
Stating that students coming out of the colleges lack necessary skills, Dr. Lakshminarayana said, “Institutes of this kind bridge the gap between Industry needs and students abilities through Industry oriented skill training.
“Mr. R.C.M. Reddy urged the youth to make use of the opportunity and enhance skills in the profession, as it would give very good job opportunities.
For improving the skills of students of technical courses by giving them exposure to state-of-the-art technologies & techniques used in companies worldwide, different labs and facilities are being set up. As part of the training programme the students would acquire industry best practices through formal technical skill development training designed to be a part of the curriculum.
The institute will be dedicated to the nation by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, during his visit to Sri City, shortly.
