Sri City, September 24, 2016:- Mr. J. Satyanarayana, IAS (Retired), Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), a statutory authority established under the provisions of the Aadhaar Act, visited Sri City on Saturday. Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City extended a warm welcome.
Mr. Ravindra gave a detailed briefing on the world-class infrastructure and the brisk pace of development of Sri City. Mr. Satyanarayana evinced keen interest and quizzed on different aspects of Sri City. Reminiscing his very long association with Mr. Satyanarayana, Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy said, “Our association dates back to early 1990s; when I was in the IT industry, he was with Government of AP as the pioneer in implementing several e-Governance projects, including Computerisation of the Registration Department Project.”
Stating that his visit was very timely, Mr. Ravindra added, “We have been looking forward to his visit for some time, and feel that visit has come at the right time. It was during his tenure as Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeITY) ‘Electronic Manufacturing Cluster’ (EMC) was conceptualised, and as we are now currently focusing on the development of EMC, we seek his valuable suggestions and guidance, ” he added.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Satyanarayana said that Sri City is a visionary project, which has been implemented with great effort by the promoters. “It has a good infrastructure that translates the motto of ‘Make in India’ into reality. I have no doubt that very soon the entire city gets filled up and creates higher economic activity in this area, ” he opined.
Following the briefing session Mr. Satyanarayana went round the campus and observed blooming industrial activity. He visited the production unit of Rising Star (Foxconn) and witnessed the assembly operations on smart mobile phones being carried out by large groups local girls. He also visited the Hunter Douglas unit.
Mr. Satyanarayana has close to four decades of experience in varied areas of governance and served as the Secretary, DeITY from 2012 to 2014. As Secretary he was instrumental in promoting the inclusive and sustainable growth of the Electronics, IT & ITeS industries and e-Governance for empowering citizens. Besides this, he has contributed extensively to the thought leadership in the e-Governance domain by writing many books, delivering training programs and contributing extensively in seminars and discussion forums on e- Governance.
